About Taniala Regenerative Camp
Welcome to Taniala Regenerative Camp, a Malagasy association founded in 2022. Our name, "Taniala," combines the Malagasy words "tany" (soil or land) and "ala" (forest), symbolizing our dedication to soil and forest regeneration.
Our Goal Our goal is clear: to leave living soils and healthy ecosystems for future generations in Madagascar.
Our Action We are a diverse network of actors committed to responsible communities, resilient ecosystems, and prosperous local economies, all based on soil regeneration. Our approach integrates practices such as regenerative agriculture, permaculture, agroecology, agroforestry, water management, ecological restoration, and regenerative development.
Our Core Values We are guided by three core values: solution-oriented, locally focused action, and community-centered.
Our Mission Our mission is to demonstrate on the ground that an alternative agricultural model is possible: one that restores soils, purifies water, enriches biodiversity, regenerates ecosystems, and contributes to addressing climate change and poverty. We facilitate the connection between local communities and experts engaged in landscape restoration and ecosystem regeneration.
Our Vision We work for responsible and active communities, a sustainable food system, a resilient ecosystem, and a prosperous local economy at various levels: small, community, and landscape. We aim to connect local communities with practitioners, scientists, and other actors engaged in regeneration. We aspire to be pioneers of regenerative agriculture in the Menabe region and the Southwest region of Madagascar. We want to create more camps in different regions of Madagascar.
Join Us We are the link between local communities and regeneration practitioners. Join us in our mission for the regeneration of soils and degraded ecosystems in Madagascar.
Our Objectives
Establish Regeneration Camps in degraded areas, actively involving local communities and experts.
Create Training and Research Centers in our camps, teaching community members existing techniques for restoring degraded lands and innovating new context-adapted methods.
Promote Regenerative Agriculture in Madagascar by improving local livelihoods through practices such as regenerative agriculture, permaculture, agroecology, and syntropic agroforestry.
Enhance the livelihoods of local communities in the camp areas.
Initiate citizen mobilization for the resilience of communities and their ecosystems, encouraging local actors (Restoration Warriors) to engage in ecological restoration on the ground with local communities.
Our First Regeneration Camp Our first camp is located in the village of Lambokely, in the Menabe region of Madagascar. It covers 3.5 hectares and features a demonstration plot in regenerative agroforestry, living fences, a nursery, a lodge, and two wells.
The Importance of Proximity We believe in being close to degraded landscapes and local communities. We plan to create more camps in different villages and regions of Madagascar.
Our Camps Each camp will be a model of an eco-village and a community center promoting learning and exchange. They will host volunteers, experts, and visitors committed to our cause, which is the regeneration of soils and destroyed ecosystems, hence the name Regenerative Camp. Each Regenerative Camp is a “showcase of good regenerative agricultural practices.”
Our Slogan Our slogan, “Tany velona sy olombelona” in Malagasy or “Living soil and thriving community” in English, means “Living soil and thriving community.” It summarizes our commitment to soil and ecosystem regeneration.
