Anissa Calloo
President
Anissa Calloo serves as the dedicated president of NATIR, bringing her expertise in Biology with a BSc from the University of Mauritius. With a focus on the conservation of endemic species, Anissa is passionate about raising awareness of environmental issues. Her skill set includes the expert husbandry of critically endangered animals, with a particular emphasis on endemic birds, reptiles, and bats.
Puspha Seepaul Choolhun
Vice President
Holding a Masters in Sustainable Development with a specialization in natural resource management from the University of London, UK, Puspha Seepaul Choolhun contributes a wealth of knowledge to NATIR. Her involvement in captive breeding management of birds on Ile aux Aigrettes and the establishment of a seed bank facility for endemic plants in Mauritius for Kew Garden, UK, showcases her commitment to sustainable practices and plant restoration.
Bhavnah Komul
Secretary
Bhavnah Komul, with a Masters in Applied Marine Science from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and a Graduate Diploma in Research Methods from James Cook University, Australia, brings a comprehensive skill set to NATIR. With experience in both terrestrial and marine conservation, analytical techniques, and expertise in various aspects of marine biology, Bhavnah is a key asset to the team.
Stephane Mellier
Treasurer
Stephane Mellier, armed with a postgraduate certificate in endangered species management from the University of Kent, UK, boasts over ten years of experience in the conservation of endangered birds and reptiles in Mauritius. His additional experience in eco-tourism and education further contributes to his holistic approach to conservation.
Bruno Vurpanaiken

With almost 15 years of experience as the head warden on Ile aux Aigrettes with the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation, Bruno Vurpanaiken brings a rich background in plant restoration to NATIR. His extensive experience in the field positions him as a valuable asset in the pursuit of the organization's conservation goals.
Lucy Ormsby
Executive Member
Lucy has played a crucial role in supporting NATIR, leveraging her skills in theory of change and grant writing. Her adeptness in developing and implementing strategies for positive change, coupled with her successful grant management experience, underscores her commitment to advancing the goals of conservation organizations. Fluent in multiple languages and a leader in the field, Lucy's influence on a global scale is marked by her hands-on contributions and dedication to fostering sustainable practices within NATIR's initiatives.
